My Minecraft townhouse

 In the Minecraft group our challenge was to build a townhouse in the the Minecraft world. These are some photos of my house. My house is under ground and i partly own a Gold,Dimond and emerald valt.( I didn't take photos of this because it's a secret. ( well it's not a secret any more ). My inquiry

Last term our focus was space. My buddy was Sam. For inquiry we did an animation to show our learning. Me and Sam chose to do How does the earth orbit around the sun perfectly. I was a little mad at Sam because he was on other things while I was doing the research. All of Urmi's inquiry group did an animation to show their learning. Here is our animation we did.    

Christchurch Symphony Orchestra

                       

Well Yesterday we had CSO ( Christchurch Symphony Orchestra) came to my school to teach us how to play The Violin, Ukulele, Bucket drums and raping. On Friday we have to preform in front of the hole school at 11:15. It's very scary to preform in front of the hole school but we are all exited as well as nerviness. But i think that it's going to be fun to do. I chose to do the Violin but i had to go to ukulele because there were to many people to do it. But then Domink came over to me and said " Violin is to hard form me do you want to take my place? " " yes " i said so i passed my ukulele to Domink and went to go to the violin corner and learnt how to make a teapot ( Resting Poisson ) and torch ( Finished position).Our teachers name's was Ross,Sharon,Emma,Kathy and Serenity.                   Twinkle Twinkle little flame

In 1867 there was a little girl called Emma. She had a little brother named Josh. Early one morning Emma sprung out of bed and went to her brother's room to wake him up. But when she got there her brother wasn't there. Emma said “ where could my brother be?” she was worried about her brother. So she got dressed very quickly and said to her grandma “ i will be back grandma “ and her grandma said “ don’t forget your breakfast “ Emma quickly stopped and quickly ate her breakfast and then she jumped off her seat and then she grabbed her lantern and then she grabbed the door handle and fling the door open and raced off into the street. Then there was a tiny shadow in the distance and then she saw it was a little boy. Then Emma noticed that it looked like the figure was moving closer to her and then it moved closer and closer until it was right in front of Emma and the figure said “ Emma is that you? “ Emma was surprised it was her brother “ Where have you been? i have been so worried “ said Emma “ oh did grandma not tell you i was down at the bakery getting some bread for supper” Emma laughed in excitement “ at least i found you”.

Girls self defense

Well last Thursday we had year 4 self defense for girls. Last Thursday we learnt to use our voice to keep our selves safe. The things we yelled were like " BACK OFF" or " NO" it was really fun to do self defense. The other things we had to do was kicking to the shin,knee and the privets. It was really cool to have self defense being tough at our school for a couple of days. Today it was the last day for the self defense to be at our school. But on the plus side at least is got to learn a few more thing before Anna ( the self defense teacher who tough us ) move to another school to teach self defense. In this lesion we did some punches to the Nose,throat,guts and the privet and we got to play a few games. When the lesion was finished Anna gave us a form to fill-out to check if we have learnt every thing we were meant to learn.Then when we finished we said our goodbyes to Anna and then we went to class and then we went straight out to break. Today we did a really fun activity using sweets. 

Crust

The crust was the chocolate ( It was melted by the way. ) 

Mantel

The mantel was the marshmallow.

Inner core, Outer core 

The Inner core was the chocolate inside the m an m, The outer core is the shell of the m an m.

Tectonic plates 

We had to squeeze the chocolate to make little cracks and those are the tectonic plates

Under the earth's surface ( Egg edition )

 Today we look at an egg and how it represents the Earth's Crust,Mantel,Outer core and the Inner core. Urmi boiled the eggs and when my group Sam, Jukah, Riley T and Me ( Paige ) cut open the egg it smelt revolting to our noses. We saw that the egg shell was the crust of the earth and the white thing in the egg was the mantel and the grey ring around the yoke was the outer core and the yoke was the inner core. That's what we did today. Urmi said that we have a nother fun one tomorrow. Here is one photo of my team.

The Core,

The metal core is mainly made out of Iron. The inner layer of the earth is made out of soled iron and the outer layer is made out of liquid iron. 

The mantle, 

It's made out of rock, causing the rock to behave a little liquid and a little solid.

The Crust, 

Is a part of the earth that we humans can walk on,It's quite thin and breakable, The crust is 5-70 km deep, The crust is broken into enormous pieces called tectonic plates.  

Tectonic Plates, 

It's the bumping and rubbing that causes earthquakes and volcanoes. There is 6 large tectonic plates and a few smaller ones. They slowly move and bump against each other at a rate of a few milometers to up to 20 cm per year.

MY MATHS THIS TERM !

 This term i have been focusing on temperature,measurement and capacity. Today we did something to do with capacity. We did a challenge that we had to be in groups to do this challenge. we had to do 3 activities. The 1st one was we had to count how much cup it takes to fill 4 containers with water, The 2nd activity was we had to do a sand race, we had to fill a ice cream container with sand, we had to do it in pairs. One of us had to use and tiny cup and the other person had to use and tablespoon and my buddy was Tygah-lily and she won 

and i lost. Here is one photo of one of the buddy's.  

                      

This term's Report!

 This term i have really enjoyed our inquiry because we have been learning about: Polynesians and the Europeans. For that i have already made the double-hulled waka to show my learning. My inquiry teacher for inquiry is Urmi. This is what i also enjoyed last term:

4: Writing

I chose pacifica at the start of the term. I chose ukulele because i have a ukulele at my house and i wanted to learn how to use it. I chose Writing because i am a really good writer because i have made 4 books of my own. Monday Mash-up (Garden)

 For the last 4 weeks me and lots of other people there with me at the garden. At the start Nigel explained what we have to do. After Nigel had finished telling us what we could and couldn't do. We started planting the plants in the plastic bag for the Eco-action people to come and pick them up to plant in the red zone. What we did to plant them in the little plastic bag was: 1st we put the potting mix in the black plastic bag, 2nd we dug a tiny hole in the potting mix, 3rd we put the little plant and covered the tiny hole to make sure the the  plant was secure at the base stem so it would stand up straight, 4th we would put the weed mat over top of the potting mix so the weeds would not grow that big, Finally we put some stones over top of the weed mat so the wind could not blow off the weed mat. It is really nice going over to the garden in the morning because we could hear some birds singing in the winter breeze in the tree tops. These are some photos of the garden ( even there is no leaves on the trees it is still nice )

My inquiry

 For our inquiry about Belonging and NZ history.I have chosen to investigate Double-Hulled waka. Here is some of my research:

 2 large hulls equal in length.

The space in between allowed to: Store food,Hunting materials and nets.

 Polynesians used natural navigation aids such as: The stars,Ocean currents,Wind patterns and Clouds.

The Chatham Islands(Wharekauri) 800 kilometres east mainland (New Zealand).

What i learned from my trip to Ferrymead

                               I learned: 

• Ladies before gentleman.         
• Children  should be seen, not heard. 
• Schools were very strict.
• You had to polish your shoes because they were very expense. 
• The men had to wear knickerbockers.
• The ladies had to wear dresses and white aprons.
• There where lots of chores like: 2 man cross saw, sweeping,silver polishing, dusting and polishing shoes.
• They ironed there clothes to keep warm
• They cooked their food over the fire
• How to pack a truck 
• The ladies swept the floor  
• The men scrubbed the deck

                     Making bread and butter in the 1850's

Today we made bread and butter from scratch. The first thing we made was the butter because we knew it would take like 2 minutes. The ingredients where: cream and salt . Next we made the bread. First we made the dough and the ingredients where: butter, self raising flour and warm water. Then we had to bake it for 30 minutes. It took until lunch time and then it was finally ready for my group to devour the hole entire bread roll. All of us had a little piece and my friend Eliza and I heard that she had a little tummy ache when she had a piece and now she calls it the 'death bread and butter' just because she had a little tummy ache. Anyway after all of us had  a piece it, tiny little bread crumbs were the only thing left and some people went to ear those little tiny crumbs.

The Shark[aka Meglodon] on the beach Part 1

 PART 1.     It was 1942. On the beach of Francisco.But just then the tsunami alarm went off.But before the tsunami even reached the beach a shark{aka a Meglodon because it was huge}. It swam all the way from New Zealand.But just then the tsunami was about to hit the beach and the people where still doing there evening walk on the the beach. The people herd the alarm and they all rushed into there houses.To be continued........

My Garden Writing

I can smell super strong mint.

It reminds me of a special family dish that my dad used to make a lot of nights.   

I can hear kids yelling in the school pool.

It reminds me of the first time I went ice skating, it was so noisy I could not concentrate.

I can see the delicious ripe peaches on the tree.

It reminds me of my 3 year old apple tree that is not ripe yet because i only bought it last year.
